Spring pictures are special when taken anywhere on the planet.  New growth, bright colors, and rapid change are fun to document.

New Mexico, and the desert southwest in general, is not an especially good place for spring pictures.  The problem is water.  in 2005 and 2006 the winter was extremely dry with little snow or other precipitation.  For example, Albuquerque, New Mexico received only 0.4" of precipitation between Nov. 2005 and May 2006.  Desert plants don't germinate under these conditions.

However, there are always moist areas to be found, so there are opportunities for spring pictures even in the desert.
